Built on DLP projection architecture, the projector supports deep and nuanced color reproduction through a 30-bit color pipeline, rendering more than 1.07 billion colors for rich, lifelike visuals. Its bright 2600 ANSI lumen laser light source ensures powerful image output that retains clarity even with ambient lighting present.

Optical Flexibility and Installation Precision

Designed for flexible installation, the W5850’s optical system supports a throw ratio between 1.0 and 1.6, enabling projection up to ~180” diagonal from a relatively short distance—ideal for both medium and large screen setups. The 1.6x motorized zoom enhances placement versatility, while motorized lens shift (±50% vertical, ±15% horizontal) and 2D keystone adjustment allow precise image alignment without physical repositioning of the projector.

Cinematic Color and Calibration

Color accuracy is a central strength of this projector. The W5850 comes with 100% DCI-P3 and Rec.709 color gamut coverage, delivering standards-level color fidelity expected for cinematic content. Factory calibration with individual calibration reports ensures consistent out-of-box color performance. In addition, advanced white balance tuning across 11 levels allows enthusiasts and professionals to fine-tune mid-tone colors to their preferred calibration standards.

HDR Performance and Picture Modes

The W5850 supports advanced HDR formats, including HDR10, HDR10+ (dynamic metadata) and HLG, enabling greater contrast and detail across light and dark areas of HDR content. Intelligent HDR technologies optimize light output and tone mapping frame by frame to maintain highlight detail and shadow definition while avoiding excessive clipping. Multiple picture modes—including Filmmaker Mode—allow viewing that stays true to directorial intent or tailored to ambient conditions.

Connectivity and Audio Integration

From a connectivity standpoint, the projector offers dual HDMI 2.1 ports (HDCP 2.2), supporting the latest video formats and allowing high-bandwidth signals. It also includes USB-A ports (with power supply options), LAN (RJ45), RS232, VESA 3D sync, and SPDIF out. Crucially, the W5850 supports eARC with 7.1-channel Dolby Atmos pass-through on HDMI-1, enabling uncompressed multi-channel audio delivery to external receivers and sound systems via a single cable.

Operational Efficiency and Silent Running

Built for consistent performance, the laser light source is rated to last up to 25,000 hours in ECO mode and 20,000 hours under normal operation before needing replacement. The cooling system is engineered to maintain environmental noise levels as low as 27–30 dB, helping reduce distraction during critical viewing sessions. Dust-blocking louver design and an optic ring reduce stray light and protect internal components for longer life.
